Hot Tapping
Hot Tapping is a procedure utilised in order to safely tie into a pressurised system by drilling or cutting into the existing pipework whilst it is still operating and under pressure. Hot tapping involves attaching a branch connection and valve to the outside of an existing and operating pipeline, then cutting out the pipeline wall within the branch and removing the wall section through the valve. The largest benefit of hot tapping is simply that there is no shutdown required therefore meaning there is no loss of production which then ultimately saves costs. Hot tapping can be conducted on pipes holding natural gas, steam, water, sewage, petroleum, and chemicals.
Pipe Freezing
Pipe freezing is a procedure utilised in order to modify, repair and maintain existing pipelines. This procedure involves chilling the exterior of the pipework for a period of time which is long enough for the liquid inside the pipe to solidify. The frozen liquid isolates a section of the pipe therefore being non intrusive and allowing work to be completed in an efficient manner. There are ultimately numerous benefits of this procedure in comparison to a standard shutdown, this procedure is highly favoured by APS clients as it is a necessary key in order to complete work without being intrusive towards the pipework and its daily operations.
